Laying Down the Roots is the first level in World 1 of the Story mode of BFDI: Branches. Clearing it will show the Laying Down the Roots Clear cutscene and unlock Cloudy Cliffs. The level was designed by Meester Tweester. It was inspired by the level design of World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System, especially its way of teaching players the game without text.
