Firey is a playable character in BFDI: Branches. His main defining feature is his running speed, which is the fastest out of all playable characters.

Michael Huang reprises his role as Firey from Battle For Dream Island, recording new lines for the game (besides some reused death screams).

BFDI: Branches

Appearance

Firey is an anthropomorphic flame with an orange outer layer and an yellow-orange center.

Gameplay

Firey has the fastest run out of all playable characters. Although his fast speed is his main attribute, he is the only playable character with no special ability of his own, so he has to navigate around enemies and hazards using his speed and stomping attack. He has an average maximum HP of 4. His jump can reach 4 blocks tall, and he can reach 7 blocks when combined with his double jump, tied for the most out of all playable characters along with Coiny. He also has an average fall speed. Overall, Firey is a basic but highly versatile character, and is a good choice for players who want high speed and mobility.

Story mode

In Story mode, Firey appears in the Opening and Laying Down the Roots Clear cutscenes. He also appears in the title card for Laying Down the Roots.

Official media

Firey appears in Announcement Trailer, Super Player!, and Release Trailer. He also appears in the original video of the game's beta, Making My Own BFDI Game, and the gameplay preview Level 1 Gameplay BETA.

Origin

Firey was the first character created in the Battle For Dream Island series, and by extension the first object show character. He first appeared in the comic "FIREY to keep our customers happy" on May 2nd, 2008, written for a 5th grade assignment by Cary Huang. Firey was also the only BFDI character to appear in a video game before the web series started, appearing in the incomplete game Firey's Candy Bar Adventure on January 15th, 2009. He was the winner of the 1st season of Battle For Dream Island while competing on the Squishy Cherries, Squashy Grapes, and Another Name, although he didn't receive his prize of Dream Island due to Leafy buying it from the Announcer. In Battle For Dream Island Again, he competed on Team No-Name and briefly FreeSmart, before being eliminated post-hiatus at 16th place. This let him appear in IDFB starting outside of the Tiny Loser Chamber. Although not in the game BFDIA 5b, he and Coiny appear in the updated 2017 thumbnail. In Battle for BFB, he competed on The Losers! and later on the Have Nots post-split, being eliminated at 7th place. Although he does not compete in Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two, he has made some brief cameos alongside [[Leafy].

In the BFDI episode "Cycle of Life," Firey is shown to be a good runner, helping his team win the relay race challenge. This is used as his main strength in BFDI: Branches, and is referenced in his label "The Good Runner." His foreground image uses his voting pose from BFDI, and the description "KEEP THOSE NECK MUSCLES EXTENDED!" is a reference to the BFDIA episode "Well Rested", where he and Gelatin shout the quote in an unsuccessful attempt to keep Rocky from nodding his head to switch away from their team.
